The remaining two diverse 10 Gb\/s systems are point west, with one stopping in Santiago, Chile then towards Miami via Panama.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAcademic Network of S\u00e3o Paulo (ANSP) provides connectivity to more than fifty institutions, which are responsible for more than forty percent of Brazilian science production. The present duplication of the international links is a natural continuation of our partnership with RNP and FIU established in 2004 and has been enhanced in one way or another every year since,\u201d said Dr Luis Lopez, Principal Investigator (PI) of ANSP. \u201cNow, with a nominal connectivity of 40 G (and an expected minimum of no less than 30 G), our research community is able to increase even more their collaborations with other institutions, both in Brazil and abroad.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>With this enhanced connectivity throughout the Americas and beyond, global collaboration has reached a new level, especially regarding data-intensive sciences. From there data will flow via existing communication links to the academic network\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuna.cl\/\">REUNA<\/a><\/span>\u00a0in Antofagasta. The link from there to the ALMA offices in Santiago will use infrastructure created in 2010 by\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.evalso.eu\/evalso\/\">EVALSO<\/a><\/span>, a project co-funded by the European Commission and operated by REUNA that already provides connectivity for ESO\u2019s observatory at Paranal, among others (see\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eso.org\/public\/news\/eso1043\/\">eso1043<\/a><\/span>\u00a0for more about EVALSO).
