{"id":6142,"date":"2025-03-05T10:59:42","date_gmt":"2025-03-05T15:59:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amlight.net\/?p=6142"},"modified":"2025-03-05T10:59:42","modified_gmt":"2025-03-05T15:59:42","slug":"software-defined-networking-sdn-student-fellowships-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-3-2-2-2-3-2-2-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amlight.net\/?p=6142","title":{"rendered":"Open Science Grid (OSG) School 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Could you transform your research with vast amounts of computing?<\/p>\n<p><em>Learn how this summer at the lovely\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wisc.edu\/\">University of Wisconsin\u2013Madison<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Applications are now open!\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/osg-htc.org\/school-2025\/#applications\">See below<\/a>\u00a0for details.<\/p>\n<p>During the School \u2014\u00a0June 23\u201327\u00a0\u2014 you will learn to use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/htcondor.org\/htc.html\">high-throughput computing<\/a>\u00a0(HTC) systems, at your own campus or using the national-scale\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/osg-htc.org\/services\/open_science_pool.html\">Open Science Pool<\/a>, to run large-scale computing applications that are at the heart of today\u2019s cutting-edge science.<\/p>\n<p>Through lectures, discussions, and\u00a0<strong>lots of hands-on activities<\/strong>\u00a0with experienced OSG staff, you will learn how HTC systems work, how to run and manage long lists of computing tasks and work with huge datasets to implement a scientific computing workflow, and where to turn for more information and help.<\/p>\n<p>The School is ideal for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Researchers (especially graduate students and post-docs) in any research area for which large-scale computing is a vital part of the research process;<\/li>\n<li>Anyone (especially students and staff) who supports researchers who are current or potential users of high-throughput computing;<\/li>\n<li>Instructors (at the post-secondary level) who teach future researchers and see value in integrating high-throughput computing into their curriculum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>People accepted to this program will receive financial support for basic travel and local costs associated with the School.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"applications\">Applications<\/h2>\n<p>Applications are now open.\u00a0<strong>The deadline for applications has been extended to Tuesday, 11 March 2025.<\/strong>\u00a0Complete your application by the end of that day to ensure consideration!<\/p>\n<p>To apply, complete\u00a0<strong>both<\/strong>\u00a0of the steps below (in parallel, if you like):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Submit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uwmadison.co1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_5dwhDZJNm5ErCbI\">online application form<\/a>\u00a0(the link goes to a Qualtrics survey, which is the application)<\/li>\n<li>Have someone email a letter of recommendation for you to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:school@osg-htc.org\">school@osg-htc.org<\/a>\u00a0(ideally PDF or plain text)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the letter of recommendation, ask someone who knows you professionally\u00a0\u2014 ideally a faculty member or other supervisor.
