Support (ACCESS)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mc-toc-title\"><em>April 22, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. National Science Foundation announced an additional investment of $52 million through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/beta.nsf.gov\/funding\/opportunities\/advanced-cyberinfrastructure-coordination-ecosystem-services-support-access\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Coordination Ecosystem<\/a>: Services &amp; Support, or ACCESS, program. ACCESS will improve the accessibility of national cyberinfrastructure centers and increase integration with systems and research communities on campuses across the nation. The 2022 ACCESS awardee teams comprise 71 researchers, students, staff, and more than 90 partner organizations across the country. The five 2022 ACCESS awardees will work to improve the agility, accessibility, usability, and coordination of the research cyberinfrastructure ecosystem.<br \/>\nFlorida International University (FIU) and AmLight are participating in Track 3: Operational &amp; Integration Services with sub-award \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/awardsearch\/showAward?AWD_ID=2138307&amp;HistoricalAwards=false\">The COre National Ecosystem for CyberinfrasTructure (CONECT) Award<\/a>\u201d to provide operations, data and networking, and cybersecurity support. Q-Factor addresses data transfer tuning and optimization processes by changing how network endpoints, including Data Transfer Nodes (DTNs), consume network state information. In 1992, the realization of Rio-92, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, in Rio de Janeiro, made it possible for RNP, until then a project of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT), to have the role of creating an internet infrastructure for the event. From this first connection, the first internet network in Brazil emerged, connecting ten states and the Federal District.
