Job Summary

Contributes to the design and execution of experiments in areas under investigation to answer research questions of projects based at CIARA. Interprets experimental results and presents findings to be applied as solutions in coordination with project team members. Collaborates with Investigators at CIARA to seek new funding opportunities that leverages the advanced cyberinfrastructure at CIARA, the Division of IT and FIU. Participates, and may take a lead role, in the preparation of research proposals. Contributes, and may take a lead role, writing academic papers for submission to peer-reviewed publications. Mentors undergraduate and graduate student interns at CIARA.

  • Performs experimental research in areas under investigation at CIARA. Prepares research designs and executes experiments in areas under investigation. Interprets experimental results and presents findings to project team members.
  • Formulates research questions in response to a hypothesis (or problem to be solved), either independently or in collaboration with investigators and project team members.
  • Organizes and coordinates the experimental research portions of funded research projects, including proficiency building a testbed environment that consists of Software-Defined Networking technologies, advanced Cyberinfrastructure, and measurement instrumentation.
  • Performs data gathering and data packaging to create science data products for use in funded research projects.
  • Mentors undergraduate and graduate student interns at CIARA.
  • Contributes, and may take a lead role, in publishing in peer-reviewed publications. Presents research findings at national and international conferences.
  • Investigates sponsored research program announcements for new funding opportunities that leverages advanced Cyberinfrastructure resources at CIARA, the Division of IT and FIU.
  • Contributes to writing project annual reports and technical reports for submission to project sponsors.
  • Engages researchers and practitioners, and participates in relevant communities of practice and research, to increase knowledge and experience, and to augment CIARA¿s capabilities in developing highly competitive proposals.
  • Liaises with relevant agencies regarding research activities on contracts and grants.
  • Assists staff and/or student(s) working on projects and other duties as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable and relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinates activities, communication, and/or budgets for program(s) and technical project(s).
  • Monitors and stays abreast on federal, state, local government, and commercial and research technical programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree and one (1) year of relevant experience.  Must have a PhD or proof of degree by hire date.

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of machine learning and/or deep learning.
  • Working knowledge of quantitative research methods.
  • Experience using Python.
  • Working knowledge of Linux.
