Job Summary

 

The Quality Assurance (QA) Tester is responsible for writing integration and behavior tests as well as evaluating the CI/CD methodologies already in place for multiple software development projects at CIARA. Collaborates and works with Center for Internet Augmented Research & Assessment (CIARA) partners in South America on the development and testing of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controllers.

  • Supports the development and execution of test cases, test scenarios, testing plans, and test procedures in an agile environment.
  • Collaborates and works with CIARA’s partners in South America on the development and testing of the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controllers. Must be able to speak and write fluently in Spanish and translate feedback and/or results from our partners into English as needed.
  • Assists in the maintenance of automated regression and integration test scenarios and plans for validation.
  • Assists in identifying success criteria, design, and execute information verification and data persistence.
  • Reviews test results and scope, and evaluates for conformance to design.
  • Provides feedback to the development teams by collecting, analyzing, reporting, and documenting test results.
  • Participates in the defects and ambiguities of identification activities.
  • Assists in software design reviews by providing input on functional requirements, operational characteristics, product designs, and schedules.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed.  The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to this position.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with two (2) years of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Departmental Requirements

  • Experience with Python projects required.
  • Experience with Linux required.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Software testing experience or similar engagement with software systems preferred.
  • Competency to learn new software tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments while meeting established schedules and deadlines in an organized manner.
  • Ability to read and understand workflow diagrams.
  • Basic networking skills is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Software Defined Networking is high desirable.
  • Experience with Open Source Projects are highly desirable.
  • Experience with PyCharm is highly desirable.
  • Experience with CI/CD is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Ansible is desirable.
  • Ability to understand and promote process improvements as needed, supported by team.
